  3. 00:34:48 I'm a gastroenterologist by trade.
  4. 00:34:50 I have been doing clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies for almost three decades.
  5. 00:34:56 I'm not here to shake the beehive of the FDA.
  6. 00:34:59 I'm here to make sure that the FDA is doing what it's supposed to do,
  7. 00:35:02 which is assuring my safety and the safety of millions of Americans that are paying taxes.
  8. 00:35:08 Because I spearhead the microbiome research.
  9. 00:35:11 I started paying attention because of the genetic sequence of the virus.
  10. 00:35:16 And we kind of joined forces with a lot of doctors in America.
  11. 00:35:20 And when we collected stool samples,
  12. 00:35:22 we noticed the whole sequence of COVID in the stools.
  13. 00:35:26 We basically started analyzing what is the best combination therapy to put out.
  14. 00:35:31 Some of the doctors were saying,
  15. 00:35:32 you know,
  16. 00:35:33 vitamin C seems to be working in Italy.
  17. 00:35:36 Then the protocol of Didier Raoul came out.
  18. 00:35:39 Hydroxychloroquine was interesting because millions of prescriptions.
  19. 00:35:44 We've never had any problems.
  20. 00:35:46 Azithromycin was another good solution.
  21. 00:35:48 And zinc certainly seemed plausible.
  22. 00:35:51 I said,
  23. 00:35:51 I bet you hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin kill the virus.
  24. 00:35:55 And then vitamin C,
  25. 00:35:57 vitamin D,
  26. 00:35:57 and zinc increase the microbiome,
  27. 00:35:59 right?
  28. 00:36:00 When we found the whole genome of COVID in the stools,
  29. 00:36:03 we discovered that two people that were on hydroxychloroquine and Z-Pak didn't have the virus anymore.
  30. 00:36:08 So I started writing the protocol sometime in March.
  31. 00:36:12 And the FDA says,
  32. 00:36:13 you don't need to do a clinical trial,
  33. 00:36:15 proceed.
  34. 00:36:16 And that was like April 3rd.
  35. 00:36:18 A couple days later,
  36. 00:36:19 they said,
  37. 00:36:20 I'm sorry,
  38. 00:36:21 Dr Hazen,
  39. 00:36:22 you have to do a full on clinical trial.
  40. 00:36:24 My protocol was seen by a lot of doctors on clinicaltrials.gov.

  42. 00:36:31 I get a letter from the Gates Foundation.
  43. 00:36:34 Here's the quote,
  44. 00:36:35 "We are helping WHO,
  45. 00:36:37 the World Health Organization,
  46. 00:36:38 to track and monitor clinical trials evaluating pre-exposure prophylaxis of healthcare workers.
  47. 00:36:43 We are especially interested in those studies using either chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine." Right.
  48. 00:36:48 Wasn't that interesting?
  49. 00:36:49 The World Health Organization was being coordinated with a private institution in the United States and not just your clinical trial,
  50. 00:36:58 but all of them.
  51. 00:37:00 Right.
  52. 00:37:00 So I'm thinking,
  53. 00:37:01 oh,
  54. 00:37:02 Mr.
  55. 00:37:02 Gates wants to invest in my clinical trials,
  56. 00:37:05 So I wrote a long letter saying,
  57. 00:37:06 you know,
  58. 00:37:07 my family has been in the clinical trial business for years.
  59. 00:37:09 And then I didn't hear back.

  61. 00:37:15 there was a tweet that went on on Twitter,
  62. 00:37:16 Nick DeVito,
  63. 00:37:17 "Five therapies at once on 600 patients in a single arm trial.
  64. 00:37:22 What are we even doing?
  65. 00:37:23 How does this get approved?" And who is he?
  66. 00:37:26 Clinical Research Integrity,
  67. 00:37:28 University of Oxford.
  68. 00:37:29 University of Oxford that started the clinical trial that Monday.
  69. 00:37:33 At the same time,
  70. 00:37:35 a retweet by Vinay Prasad,
  71. 00:37:37 "Uncontrolled study of five drugs all at once for COVID.
  72. 00:37:42 Scientifically bankrupt,
  73. 00:37:44 ethically bankrupt.
  74. 00:37:46 COVID is pushing us to a new research lows." First of all,
  75. 00:37:50 it's not five therapies.
  76. 00:37:52 It's zinc,
  77. 00:37:53 vitamin C and vitamin D,
  78. 00:37:54 and there's only two medications.
  79. 00:37:56 So I'm seeing this and I'm like,
  80. 00:37:59 you actually are thinking of doing a placebo control trial in a pandemic where people are dying.
  81. 00:38:07 The Gates Foundation has given over $349 million to Nick DeVito's employer,
  82. 00:38:11 the University of Oxford,
  83. 00:38:12 and over $353 million to Vinay Prasad's employer,
  84. 00:38:17 the University of California,
  85. 00:38:18 San Francisco.
  86. 00:38:19 On Monday,
  87. 00:38:21 there's a letter that went out from Stat News to all the regulatory agencies,
  88. 00:38:29 including the FDA,
  89. 00:38:30 that said,
  90. 00:38:31 "Your thoughts on placebo in a pandemic.
  91. 00:38:34 A new COVID-19 clinical trial is drawing up some attention on bio Twitter.
  92. 00:38:39 Aside from the controversy surrounding hydroxychloroquine and the gut demolishing potential of a 24 week of an antibiotic,
  93. 00:38:47 we did have a question for you.
  94. 00:38:49 Do placebo arms even have a place in a fast moving pandemic?" So this was sent.
  95. 00:38:54 That day,
  96. 00:38:55 my protocol was put on hold.
  97. 00:38:56 So they said,
  98. 00:38:57 "Sorry,
  99. 00:38:57 Dr.
  100. 00:38:58 Hazen,
  101. 00:38:58 you need to do a placebo control trial." Reports indicate this Stat News email was sent to the FDA and other regulatory officials,
  102. 00:39:05 a select audience that would have the power to kill or delay Dr.
  103. 00:39:08 Dr Hazen's study.
  104. 00:39:10 I called the FDA and I said,
  105. 00:39:12 "Okay,
  106. 00:39:12 the placebo is going to be vitamins." New England IRB waits two weeks and says,
  107. 00:39:17 "I'm sorry Dr Hazan
  108. 00:39:19 we cannot take your protocol." Bottom line is I switched IRBs.
  109. 00:39:23 It took us another month to get started.
  110. 00:39:26 And if you'll recall,
  111. 00:39:28 there was a lot of talking about hydroxychloroquine in the media.
  112. 00:39:32 By the time we were ready to recruit,
  113. 00:39:34 it was too late.
  114. 00:39:36 The media had destroyed hydroxychloroquine.
  115. 00:39:39 People that were dying were afraid to take it because they were afraid of a heart attack.
  116. 00:39:44 And essentially,
  117. 00:39:45 here I am with a protocol.
  118. 00:39:46 It was very difficult to enroll.
  119. 00:39:48 Doing clinical trial was never about the money for me.
  120. 00:39:51 And it was more important for me to see the data first because I wanted to make sure like,
  121. 00:39:56 what is going on right now,
  122. 00:39:58 Is this about money?
  123. 00:39:59 Because if it's about money,
  124. 00:40:01 then it's disgusting that we killed a person for the price of a stock.
  125. 00:40:05 Interference in research happened.
  126. 00:40:08 The Gates Foundation allegedly invested $100 million in COVID therapeutics,
  127. 00:40:13 but the organization has devoted far more to vaccine research,
  128. 00:40:18 with over $6 billion going just to Gavi,
  129. 00:40:21 the vaccine alliance.
  130. 00:40:23 Due to the legal requirements for emergency use authorizations,
  131. 00:40:26 Gates investments in vaccines would have been threatened by any drug proven to work against COVID.
  132. 00:40:31 Luckily for the foundation,
  133. 00:40:33 Dr Hazen's trial was delayed until after the fraudulent Surgisphere study destroyed public confidence in hydroxychloroquine.
  134. 00:40:40 Public records requests have recently revealed the Gates Foundation
  135. 00:40:44 sought closed and confidential relationships with other HCQ clinical trials.
