Chapter transcript
- 00:50:43 Our next presenter is
- 00:50:45 Dr Paul Marik.
- 00:50:47 He has written over 500 peer-reviewed journal articles,
- 00:50:50 80 book chapters,
- 00:50:51 and authored four critical care books and has been cited over 48,000 times in peer-reviewed publications.
- 00:50:58 Merrick is certainly one of those doctors who've been persecuted for treating patients.
- 00:51:02 The Palm Study Group investigated four drugs for the use of Ebola.
- 00:51:10 The results were published December the 12th,
- 00:51:14 2019 in the New England Journal of Medicine.
- 00:51:17 And that date is particularly important because that signaled the beginning of COVID.
- 00:51:24 Remdesivir increased the risks of death and renal failure.
- 00:51:31 It was such a toxic drug,
- 00:51:33 the Data Safety Monitoring Board terminated the use of Remdesivir.
- 00:51:39 The NIH and the Act One study enrolled patients in a study looking at Remdesivir for the treatment of COVID-19.
- 00:51:51 The last patient was enrolled April 19,
- 00:51:56 2020.
- 00:51:57 Ten days later,
- 00:51:59 ten days later,
- 00:52:00 before the study had actually terminated,
- 00:52:03 Dr Fauci sat in the Oval Office of the White House and he said the trial was good news.
- 00:52:11 What Dr Fauci did not tell you was that the primary endpoint of the study was changed halfway during the study.
- 00:52:22 We all know that is scientific misconduct.
- 00:52:26 Because the study was not going to be positive,
- 00:52:30 they changed the primary endpoint.
- 00:52:32 They invented a bogus endpoint called time to recovery,
- 00:52:38 which they showed in this study was statistically significant.
- 00:52:42 And based on this bogus endpoint,
- 00:52:46 Remdesivir was approved by the FDA on October the 20th, 2020
- 00:52:54 The data shows that Remdesivir has a clear-cut significant positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery.
- 00:53:06 It was 11 days compared to 15 days.
- 00:53:09 This will be the standard of care.
- 00:53:11 The standard of practice is set by a number of physicians who have a large amount of conflicts of interest.
- 00:53:19 The people who lead these guideline committee,
- 00:53:21 they're on the take.
- 00:53:23 But the problem is that people die.
- 00:53:25 So we would have normally waited several days until the data gets further,
- 00:53:30 dot the I and cross the T.
- 00:53:32 But the data are not going to change.
- 00:53:34 Some of the numbers may change a little,
- 00:53:37 but the conclusion will not change.
- 00:53:39 If Big Pharma does a study that shows that its drug is no good,
- 00:53:43 it has the option of not publishing it.
- 00:53:45 But this was a study conducted in China.
- 00:53:47 It was terminated early and it failed to show any benefit for Remdesivir versus the standard of care.
- 00:53:55 Almost every single patient in this country is treated with the combination of Remdesivir and low-dose dexamethasone.
- 00:54:07 But just to make the situation even more preposterous,
- 00:54:11 the federal government will give hospitals a 20% bonus on the entire hospital bill if they prescribe Remdesivir to Medicare patients.
- 00:54:26 The federal government is incentivizing hospitals to prescribe a medication which is toxic.
- 00:54:36 The hydroxychloroquine cocktail,
- 00:54:38 it's about $20,
- 00:54:40 right?
- 00:54:40 Certainly no more than 50.
- 00:54:43 Remdesivir,
- 00:54:44 and we'll talk about that a little bit later in terms of the side effects of that and the studies,
- 00:54:48 the science behind that,
- 00:54:50 costs over $3,000.
- 00:54:51 Could that maybe be one of the reasons why all the effort is
- 00:54:55 put on these more exotic therapeutics that cost thousands of
- 00:54:58 dollars versus something that's off the shelf that costs $20?
- 00:55:02 We want to thank all the collaborators that have brought Remdesivir to this point,
- 00:55:06 and that certainly includes NIH and Dr. Fauci
- 00:55:09 We authorized Gilead's application for emergency use authorization.
- 00:55:14 This was lightning speed in terms of getting something approved,
- 00:55:17 and from clinical trial to getting it authorized from the FDA,
- 00:55:21 it's been quite the speedy but also effective process.
- 00:55:24 The FDA has a huge history of drugs going into widespread
- 00:55:27 use in the medical community for decades that have not been
- 00:55:31 established on the basis of randomized controlled trials.
- 00:55:34 the fact that it's an existing drug,
- 00:55:36 that helps,
- 00:55:37 but you still got to go through trials.
- 00:55:39 You still got to go through trials.
- 00:55:42 The FDA makes a decision which is sometimes totally independent of any finding by the advisory committee.
- 00:55:50 Dr Rayford Brown chairs the FDA Opioid Advisory Committee.
- 00:55:54 According to Dr. Brown
- 00:55:56 the FDA is putting the interests of Big Pharma ahead of public health.
- 00:56:00 They're proving the painkiller OxyContin.
- 00:56:03 The FDA didn't even require Purdue Pharma to undergo clinical trials.
- 00:56:14 Opioid company, Purdue,
- 00:56:15 gave a lot of money to the doctors to say that,
- 00:56:18 Hey, if you are in pain,
- 00:56:20 you can't get addicted." It's like,
- 00:56:23 that actually wasn't true at all,
- 00:56:24 but that's what I was taught in medical school.
- 00:56:26 If you're in pain,
- 00:56:27 you can't be addicted.
- 00:56:28 I'm quoting,
- 00:56:29 "The FDA has a lack of transparency and uses the advisory committees as cover." The agencies turned a blind eye toward simple,
- 00:56:38 cheap,
- 00:56:38 possibly effective treatments that,
- 00:56:41 created no harm.
- 00:56:44 According to the regulations,
- 00:56:46 people who receive royalties are not required to divulge them,
- 00:56:50 even on their financial statement,
- 00:56:53 according to the Bayh-Dole Act.
- 00:56:55 The hydroxychloroquine FDA Advisory Committee lists significant conflicts of interest.
- 00:57:00 Some conflicts have not been properly disclosed.
- 00:57:03 Half of the chemotherapy drugs used in cancer were used without randomized controlled trials.
- 00:57:08 The antibiotics,
- 00:57:09 amoxicillin,
- 00:57:09 for example,
- 00:57:10 that parents use with their children all the time,
- 00:57:12 day in,
- 00:57:13 day out,
- 00:57:13 was never established with a randomized controlled trial before it was used.
- 00:57:17 China stopped the studies because they couldn't fully enroll them,
- 00:57:19 because they stopped accruing cases in China,
- 00:57:22 because their epidemic had subsided,
- 00:57:23 because their epidemic had subsided.
- 00:57:25 This accidental admission that China has beaten the virus was brought to you by former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb.
- 00:57:31 Scott's a board member of the company Pfizer.
- 00:57:33 Four months after this interview,
- 00:57:35 Pfizer announced it was manufacturing Gilead's very expensive remdesivir.
- 00:57:39 In 2019,
- 00:57:40 Pfizer purchased a company called Mylon.
- 00:57:42 Mylon used to make hydroxychloroquine in West Virginia,
- 00:57:45 but after Pfizer got hold of it,
- 00:57:47 they shut it down.
- 00:57:48 In July of 2020,
- 00:57:49 Mylon announced it would make the generic version of remdesivir for Gilead.
- 00:57:52 Non of these conflicts of interest were disclosed by CNBC.
- 00:57:55 I don't know why people weren't more positive all along about remdesivir.
