Chapter transcript
  1. 01:35:09 On October 29th, 2019
  2. 01:35:14 Anthony Fauci and Rick Bright appeared together on a universal flu vaccine panel discussing ways to improve our vaccine technology.
  3. 01:35:22 "Why don't we blow this system up?
  4. 01:35:24 I mean,
  5. 01:35:24 obviously we can't just turn off the spigot on the system we have and then say,
  6. 01:35:29 “Hey everyone in the world should get this new vaccine we haven't given to anyone yet.' But there must be some way."
  7. 01:35:36 To make it sexy, I think we have to,
  8. 01:35:39 I like the concept disrupting this field.
  9. 01:35:41 I think in parallel,
  10. 01:35:43 there might be a need or even an urgent call for an entity of excitement out there that's completely disruptive,
  11. 01:35:52 that's not beholden to bureaucratic strings and processes." "Well,
  12. 01:35:56 Well, as Rick said,
  13. 01:35:59 we're responsible for a variety of diseases making countermeasures.
  14. 01:36:03 Malaria,
  15. 01:36:04 tuberculosis,
  16. 01:36:05 Zika,
  17. 01:36:06 Ebola,
  18. 01:36:06 we're in the middle of Ebola right now."
  19. 01:36:08 Did you hear that?
  20. 01:36:10 Malaria.
  21. 01:36:11 BARDA is designed to help protect us from malaria.
  22. 01:36:14 So how did Rick Bright not know about hydroxychloroquine?
  23. 01:36:20 "And that's where the federal government comes in."
  24. 01:36:23 Is this next question the seed that was planted that caused all of the drama around COVID?
  25. 01:36:30 "If the 2009 pandemic had been much more deadly,
  26. 01:36:34 would that have ended up being a better thing for humanity?" "Would it have been?
  27. 01:36:41 No,
  28. 01:36:42 Because,
  29. 01:36:44 I mean,
  30. 01:36:45 we had a,
  31. 01:36:46 not as certainly as serious as the 1918,
  32. 01:36:51 but we had a pretty bad pandemic in 1957 and 1968.
  33. 01:36:55 That didn't change,
  34. 01:36:56 didn't change much."
  35. 01:36:59 "I mean, the sad truth is that when there's a major crisis,
  36. 01:37:02 it focuses attention and usually resources and some significant mobilization falls.
  37. 01:37:08 It doesn't necessarily mean that we are using resources in the best way possible,
  38. 01:37:12 though,
  39. 01:37:13 because it's done in the moment of crisis and there's,
  40. 01:37:18 throwing money at things that sound good without them being thought through.
  41. 01:37:23 And then there's what we used to call the U-shaped curve of concern,
  42. 01:37:27 where there's the initial increase in interest and resources,
  43. 01:37:31 and then when the problem fades and other problems emerge instead,
  44. 01:37:35 then everything drops off.
  45. 01:37:37 And,
  46. 01:37:37 you know,
  47. 01:37:37 I think we've been in that with many different outbreaks
  48. 01:37:41 of disease and flu to some degree as well." Rick
  49. 01:37:44 Rick Bright's leaked emails show that very early into COVID,
  50. 01:37:48 he and BARDA wanted more money before they would assist the government's response.
  51. 01:37:52 The agency got what it wanted.
  52. 01:37:54 Congress rewarded them with billions in funds,
  53. 01:37:57 billions of dollars that BARDA then awarded to pharmaceutical companies like AstraZeneca.
  54. 01:38:02 It seems the people involved in our government response had financial,
  55. 01:38:06 personal,
  56. 01:38:07 professional,
  57. 01:38:08 and sadly political reasons to ensure that hydroxychloroquine was not allowed as a treatment for COVID.
  58. 01:38:14 With 11 trillion dollars on the line and the risk of Donald Trump being reelected if he were allowed to be right,
  59. 01:38:21 could you have stood up and said hydroxychloroquine works?
